Wizard101 Story Chapter Two

Chapter 2 - Maria

The page I opened up to was a map. It showed what looked like a floating island. At the top of the map were the words Wizard City. But the weird part was that the map lifted off the page like a hologram and expanded so it was 3D.

“Cool,” I said and put my hand through the map. I laughed at my sisters face, she looked like she was going to faint. “Oh, lighten up Sophie, it’s not going to reach out and grab you.”

“Aunt Vanessa will be here soon, let’s go.”

“Wait,” I said. I looked at the bottom corner of the map, there were two different pictures, one of four arrows, and another of a house. I reached out to touch the one that had the arrows.

“Wait,” Sophie said grabbing my arm, but it was too late.

The arrows glowed and I was literally sucked into the book. Swirling colors were all around me as I went at light speed until it all stopped at once and I fell onto a cobblestone floor. Well a road to be more specific. I had landed in what looked like a small courtyard. There were small buildings that looked like houses around me. Off to my left was a small pond. And to my right was a dark tunnel leading to who knows where. The area was swarming with people running back in fourth or just strolling along. Most of them looked my age or a little older. I stood up carefully not realizing that there was a flying sparkle barreling towards me.

“Watch out dear!” It shouted. I didn’t have time to react. I was too stunned that the thing could talk.

SMACK! I fell to the ground with a thud. I felt like someone had thrown a doge ball at my head.

“Ouch,” I murmured. I looked up to see who (or what would be more like it) ran into me. “Grandma?” I asked.

“Oh dear, I’m so sorry. I must have hit you hard.”

In front of me was what must have been a replica of a stereotypical American grandma only ten times smaller. And she had… wings? “What are you, the tooth fairy?”

Grandma’s sweet and apologetic smile melted into a deep frown. “Excuse me? Everyone knows not to compare me to my half sister!” She looked me over. “What on Wizard City are you wearing?”

“Wizard… City?”

“I’m taking you straight to Ambrose,” Grandma grabbed my ear with her tiny hand and yanked it hard.

“Ow!” She started pulling me towards one of the bigger houses. This one even had its own courtyard. I was dragged through some gates and up to the door. Just as Grandma pulled me through the doorway I heard my sister’s voice.

“Maria! Where are you?”

“Sophie, help!” A wooden door shut in my face, shutting me out from my sister.

Wizard101 Story Chapter One - Part Two

Good Morning! I hope you enjoy chapter one – part 2 of Wizard101 Story.

Chapter one (part two) - Sophia

“Ow!” I shouted.

“Shh!” Maria put her hand over my mouth. “Do you want us both to get caught?” she hissed. I shook my head and Maria pulled her hand away.

“So if you say it’s ok to be up here, then how can we get caught?” I asked.

Maria sighed and said, “Fine, we’re not supposed to be up here, ya happy? But I still want to look around, so be quiet.”

I did what she said, I always did what she said, I didn’t like it but what else was I going to do, yell for Aunt Vanessa and then we both get in trouble? No way, so I just stayed quiet and looked around.

“Hey, look at this,” I heard Maria on the other side of the attic. I ran over to her again and saw another box.

“So?” I said looking around, we had been up here for a while and Aunt Vanessa would start looking for us soon.

“Have you noticed the dust up here? It’s all over the boxes, but not this one, it’s like she opened it recently or something,” Maria said like it was the most interesting thing in the world, but I had a bit more logic than her.

“Or, she could have put the box up here not to long ago and it’s nothing important. What did you expect to find anyway?” Maria rolled her eyes (she did that a lot in case you haven’t noticed).

“Ya know you always ruin my fun. Why can’t you just have an adventure every once in a while and what I expect to find up here is something to entertain me so I don’t have to listen to you get all ‘as a matter of fact’ on me,”  Maria was so short tempered.

“So what’s in the box?” I asked. Maria opened the box and the only thing that was in there was…

“It’s just an old book” Maria said, clearly disappointed. I felt like saying ‘I told you so’ but then I noticed something. The book didn’t have a title on it but instead there was a big spiral on the front.

“Hey Maria, doesn’t that book look like the spell book that Aunt Vanessa describes in her stories?”

“Yeah, so?” Maria asked.

I shrugged, “Just thought I’d mention it. Now can we get back downstairs? I’m starting to get a bad feeling.”

“Just hold on a second, I want to look at something,” Maria opened the book and what we saw was something I thought only existed in Aunt Vanessa’s stories.

Wizard101 Story Chapter One - Part One

Hello fellow wizards and pirates!

So more than a year ago I made a small (well not really small… it was rather long actually) post that contained a new story I was writing. I never posted more of the story afterwards because of timing issues and I never got around to it. I have a relatively light homework load this weekend and I was able to revise the next few chapters that I wrote in the story. Over the next few days I’ll slowly be posting the chapters in parts. So if you get bored often and like to read stories for fun (or just like to read stories for fun) then you have come to the right place! I’m just calling it Wizard101 Story right now for lack of a better title.

Leave a comment if you like the story or if you have some constructive criticism for me. It would be greatly appreciated. :)

Happy holidays and enjoy!

Chapter 1 (part one) - Sophia

I looked around the attic nervously. “Maria, are you sure?” I said, I noticed my voice was shaky and I tried to sound braver, “W-we shouldn’t b-be up here.” so much for sounding brave.

I was talking to my twin sister, Maria, she looked the same as me except for our hair, and hers was black while mine was blond, but other than that we looked the same. Our personalities were a whole different story. Maria was bold and brave, she didn’t care what other people thought and she always did stuff she wasn’t supposed to do… and she never got caught. I was not like my sister, the opposite really, I was shy and I was always wondering what people thought, and I never did anything I wasn’t supposed to do.

Maria rolled her eyes, “I’m sure Aunt Vanessa doesn’t mind, she said we could look around a little.”

“Yeah, but I just think she meant the bedrooms we’re going to be staying in.”

Our parents were going on a vacation for the month and they left us with our loving aunt. Aunt Vanessa was cool, seriously cool. She let us stay up late, let us eat almost whatever we wanted and she always told us some made up stories about a magical place called The Spiral where talking dogs, salamanders, cows, bears, and many more creatures lived. There were also wizards, aunt Vanessa claimed that she once was a wizard but we all knew she was just kidding around. She talked about going around the spiral with all her friends working together to defeat the most evil person of all, Malistaire. When she had finally told us she and her friends had defeated him we had jumped up for joy and started running around screaming in excitement, Aunt Vanessa had gotten a kick out of that one.

But that had been years ago when we had been about six or seven years old, now we were 13 and we still liked staying up late listening to her stories but we stayed just a bit calmer whenever something exciting happened.

But either way, I thought it was just a little rude to be snooping around in Aunt Vanessa’s attic without her knowing.

“We w-won’t touch anything t-though, right?” I asked nervously.

Maria rolled her eyes again and sighed, “No miss perfect! I will not touch any of this really dusty junk.” Maria was using her high pitched little girl voice which basically meant she was going to do whatever she wanted, which is what she did already so it didn’t really make a difference. I sighed in defeat. Maria was dead on about the attic being dusty though. I knew Aunt Vanessa hadn’t lived in this house long but judging by the amount of dust I could tell she didn’t come up to her atic very often.

There was mostly moving boxes and that was about it. The only light we had though was coming from the door that was in the floor of the attic where there had been a ladder that had unfolded and we climbed up from the hallway.

“Hey, I found something,” Maria said and I rushed over to my sister but then she made a noise. “Ugh, it’s just a flashlight, well, at least we can see now.” My sister turned the flashlight on… and it shined right in my eyes.

Catch Up and Contests

Hello Everyone!

A lot has happened to me in the Wizard101 world since I last posted. For one, I reached level 80! Those last few Avalon dungeons could really drain you. I thankfully met some really nice wizards along the way and we were able to help each other get through those last dungeons.

That Young Morganthe battle was particularly difficult with only two wizards. If you did any damage at all it was a small victory. :)

I’ve only just started Azteca and I can tell that it will be much more difficult than Avalon from a soloist’s point of view. I’ve had a couple of friends ask me to help them with some Azteca bosses and their heath is crazy! The first mob fight in Azteca has over 3,000 health!

After Avalon and before I started Azteca I began probably one of the most challenging quests that KingsIsle ever made (without meaning to). I am on a quest for the perfect pet. I’m starting from scratch and I’ve narrowed down my most desirable pet abilities to spell-proof, spritely, unicorn, pain giver, and Sharp shoot. I swapped the more desired “spell defying” for “sharp shoot” as spell defy was the only talent that one of my pets hasn’t manifested yet. I haven’t had too much luck yet getting a pet with at least two of my desired abilities but I’m working on it.

Last I would like to bring to your attention all the contests and giveaways that KingsIsle and their fan sites are having.

Second is all the KI fan sites that will be giving away prizes throughout December.
The first rounds of contests have already finished on some sites but there will be plenty more to come. :) Good luck to all in wining some holiday goodies!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone is having a fantastic Thanksgiving! If you are going out for Back Friday shopping then I wish you luck in getting the best deals. Stay safe out there because it’s been foggy around the country this week and driving can get dangerous.

To end this short and sweet post I took some pictures from the Ravenwood Radio after party last night. Christina Icedreamer let everyone see her new Azteca themed house. It’s Huge!

Win a Computer!

I’m loving KingsIsle right now. Just last week I got a letter in the mail (well more like a map) and received a free companion, it was totally free on my part. Now everyone over the age of 13 is getting a chance of receiving a new computer! All one has to do is write a story and writing is my favorite thing to do. Unfortunately I cannot enter this week’s contest as I don’t play this game very often with my family. But I encourage anyone who does to write about it and submit it to KI.
Again I cannot stress enough, FREE COMPUTER… if you just write a little story. I know I will have plenty to write about for weeks three and four. I wish everyone luck and congrats to the future lucky winners of this contest.

Here’s the link to the contest page, Ta Da.

Again, good luck to all. :)

Test Realm

With my obsession of Pirate101 taking over this blog recently, I haven’t been writing any posts that are Wizard101 related. Well here’s one!

I know I’m a little late on this but the test realm is up right now and it seems their primary concern among many others is the “behind the scenes” changes. What I got from that was I should probably notice a positive difference in some things, though they didn’t mention specifically what.

They have also made an "expanded decorating elixir" called the "Bric-a-Brac Elixir". If you purchase one of these elixirs from the crowns shop while standing either inside or outside of your house then you gain fifty more spaces for decorating items. You can purchase this elixir more than once. This elixir also works in dorm rooms. :)

The friend finder is back and there are a few miscellaneous updates. Finally they ask you to be kind… and gift some people some items out of the crown shop with your free test realm crowns. :)
Here's the link if you want more details. Ta Da!

New Blog

Hey everyone! I just made an all new blog that I can post all of my Pirate101 related stuff on. I noticed that a lot of bloggers just kept the same blog they had and used it for both games but My Wizard101 blog title is very “wizardy” and I didn't want to change the title (and truth be told, I also just wanted to make a new blog). :) So now let me introduce you to…

I’ve made a similar post on the site and if you’re ever looking for the blog it will be the link on the top right hand corner of this blog.

KI Releases Pirate101 Launch Date

Sorry I didn’t post like I said I would. The new school year hit me like a ton of bricks. But I was able to get my homework done during study hall today and there was no way I wasn’t going to post about the fact that KI finally gave us a launch date for Pirate101… sort of. “Early October” Was what they said, but I’ll take it. :)

There was also an announcement of some online “Pre- Sale” bundles that people can buy starting tomorrow. One is the Boochbeard bundle which has so many goodies that I refuse to type them all so here is the link to the page itself, Ta Da. The second bundle is the Gandry bundle which includes 12 month membership, one week head start before the launch, and the Scarakeet pet. In my opinion I would go for the Gandry because it costs less and you still get full access of the game. But that’s coming from someone who already has a beta key and has been playing already. So if you really can’t wait the extra couple of weeks before the one week head start or you really like mounts, pets, and outfits, then the Boochbeard is for you.
I hope everyone is as excited about the game as I am!

Part Two Companions

The next question I had before I started playing Pirate101 was can we choose our companions?
Yes and no. When you are creating your character you get asked questions that determine what kind of animals you get as your companions. So in a way, yes. All your other companions (as far as I know) are the same ones that everyone else gets. So in a way, no.
What I was thinking though was that it would be cool if you came to a point in the storyline where you can choose one out of two or three characters to become your companion. But as far as I know, that isn’t an option. It would be cool though! :)

The last question I had was very simple but since I hadn’t played the game it was a mystery to me.
Will our companions be a big or small part of our adventure?
The answer is big. Very big! One companion is with you constantly if you choose for them to be (you could have your pet standing next to you instead) and when you go through your quests they speak with you and make comments. Some of their comments can be funny. :)

That’s about all I have. I hope I answered someone’s questions or cleared something up. I’ll post about ship to ship combat tomorrow or the next day. School homework is already starting to pile up for me. But I will find time for Pirates any day!

Pirate101 Screenshots

I never had the time to post about me having a beta key because I was too busy having fun with the game! … Ok the real reason is that I was either,

A.) Too lazy

 Or

B.) Getting ready for the school year/marching band.

But having fun with the game is definitely C.)

Plus all I would have told you is that it was awesome and… well that’s it. So no point right? Well now there is a point! The NDA was officially lifted a couple days ago and today there were some updates today. So there are some shiny new things for us beta testers to… well test. But I took the time to take some screen shots so I could post them for the people who just devour any information about Pirate that they can and don’t care if something gets spoiled. But I promise you I didn’t take anything that I found a spoiler. I believe a spoiler would include someone telling the entire plot of your pirate’s adventure. The story in my opinion is a large part of what makes the game fun. So no spoilers. Before I got my beta key a lot of mystery that I wanted cleared up before I started the game was surrounding the companions and ship vs. ship battles.

Today I’m going to clear up the companions. There a lot of people explaining the companions now so if you still don’t get something I’m sure if you do some digging you will find a nice article someone wrote somewhere. Really I didn’t have too many questions but the ones I did have drove me nuts.

(Question one ended up being longer than anticipated so I will post question two either later today or tomorrow)

1.) Do I train my companions?

Yes! You level them up just like you level up. Only instead of them getting xp from quests you give them something called training tombs.

This is a picture of your basic Companion Management window. It shows a list of your companions and what level they are. See the white number in the lower right corner of each companion’s picture? That’s their level!  See the percentages underneath that? As far as I understand that’s the percentage that that companion will enter a battle with you. Those symbols to the left of that? That tells you what school your companion is from. The red knife is buccaneer. The purple rose is swashbuckler. The green mask is witchdoctor. And the orange gun is musketeer. I don’t have a privateer yet but my best guess would be a spyglass with the color of blue or yellow. But I have no idea at this point in time.

The blue/black bar at the bottom right of the window shows you how close your companion is to leveling up. When you press the green train button it will fill the bar up some more. To the left of the train button is the number of training tombs you have left. I have three right now and you get more training tombs each time you level up. You can also buy tombs from a vendor.
This is another picture of the Companion Management screen only now I have my mouse hovered over one of my companion’s pictures. This shows you some things I just told you about. It also shows you their name and their stats. If you want to see their talents and powers (the Pirate101 equivalent of Wizard101’s spells) you click on what looks like a little brown piece of wood with an arrow at the bottom of the picture of the companion you have clicked on. It will show you stats again as well.

I’m sure there’s more that I forgot but I don’t want to try to spell out everything.
I will leave you with a picture of Silent Belle Quincy, the first pirate I ever created. She is a level eleven Swashbuckler. :)

AMD Beta Key Giveaway

Today AMD posted a link on Facebook about getting another chance at a beta key. I would strongly recommend doing this if you want a key! All you have to do is like them and give them your name and e-mail. It’s that easy!

Here’s the link.

In the comments section I saw a comment that made me think, why didn’t I think of that! So today I will be signing off with a quote from one of my favorite book series ever.

May the odds be ever in your favor! :)

Pirate101 Beta Testing Opens!

Hey everyone! If you haven’t gotten the news yet… the beta testing for Pirate101 has started! I’m so excited. Like most, I unfortunately did not get a key today. :( But if you are like me do not lose hope! KI will be giving more keys away over the next days and weeks.

If you want/need more info I suggest using their facebook page which is where I get most of my information.

I wish you all luck in being one of the chosen ones. :) And if you already are than I (like many others) am very jealous.

Spritely and Hounds and Bears, oh my!

Hello everyone! I just got back from an awesome vacation in Texas!

Unfortunately it was a non Wizard101 vacation but I did drive through Austin. :) I stayed down in Corpus Cristi for a couple of nights and then went to San Antonio for the rest of the vacation. The river walk is beautiful, if you ever get the chance to go you should. I went to the mall there and walked past their Disney store. I remembered having one in my town when I was a kid but then they closed it. So I decided to check it out and right front and center was their display of Disney and Pixar's Brave. I am obsessed with that movie and ever since seeing it I've wanted a little plush of one of the triplets when they were a bear. :) And they had some! I bought a little Hamish and he is currently laying on my bed with other assorted stuffed animals.

And speaking of the word brave... we reached the goal of shares and tweets to the the Brave Hound pet! The best part for me is that when I leveled him up to teen he got the Spritely talent. I now have three pets with that talent now!

Happy Wizardversary to Me!

Today marks three years of me playing Wizard101! I would have had no idea if KI hadn't sent me a cute little e-mail with a link to get one of those party hats. :)

In other news, Maria just finished mb with friends Roslyn Wildblood and Abigail Fairypetal. And friend of a friend, Flint Skyeyes.

Thanks for the help guys! She also received the plague spell card.

On a totally unrelated topic... A while ago I made a post about how I was so happy that the game wasn't real because our wizards don't always do the most pleasant things. Yesterday was one of those days.

Dragon hearts aside, I have had an awesome wizardversary weekend. I got my hat and am ready to party!

So who wants cake? :)

Epic new commercial by KI

I just watched the new commercial that KingsIsle released and I loved it!

I hope you love it as much as I do. The graphics are awesome! I also love that one of the wizards appears to be a thaumaturge. :)

Scarlet has reached Grandmaster

I’m so excited! Today Scarlet reached two wonderful achievements. One is the Grandmaster achievement. Today it’s not as impressive as it was back in the day when level fifty was as high as you can go. But I still bounced up and down in my chair when I dinged 50.

Scarlet also defeated Malistaire and received her grandmaster robe. Today was overall a very exciting day for me on Wizard101.

As for my other wizards, Vanessa recently reached level 73 and has an awesome bow now. (Scarlet was until recently the only one to have a bow)

Abigail (my storm wizard) is ready to go for the Ironworks in mb.

And as for my other wizards, well, I haven’t had much time for them. I have a summer job and won’t have as much time to be on wizard… or do anything else really. But good news! I have a friend who has been playing Wizard101 for a few months and is in ds right now. She said she might help me with blogging for the summer. No guarantee but if she does help me who knows… she might post more than I do! :)

I hope you all are having a very nice summer. I know I am. I still wait not very patiently for any new news on Pirate101 but until then,

Pirate101!

Arrr! I just knew the new world was going to be pirate themed! :)

I've already read all there is to read on the new website (I would strongly encourage you to visit the site www.pirate101.com ) and have already entered myself into the beta raffle that Kingsisle is having. I can't wait for this new game to be released.

But before all that we have Avalon to look forward to. Vanessa still hasen't finished Zafaria but I believe she is getting very close. :)

Avalon and Wand Displays!

I love that the new world is a medieval theme but since Vanessa is a little behind on her homework, (aka she's not done with Zafaria) I'll just have to settle with playing around with the other features that KI has added. My favorite is the new wand hanging feature. I've already hung up all of my wands. :)

I can't wait for these updates to go live!

Happy February 29!

Today is leap day and Wizard 101 is having a leap sale!

They took 40% off the mega snack pack and I decided to buy one.

I love it when I get the fancy yogurt. :)

I had finals all morning so my extra day of the year wasn't exactly ideal. But how was your leap day? I hope it was better than a 22 page algebra test. :)

New Level 70 Gear

New level 70 gear is in the crowns shop now. Unfortunately none of my wizards are 70 yet but by the looks of these outfits, I think I'm going to pass. The first time I looked at the gear I just looked at the ice. But then I looked at all the others and I think ice got a bit of a rip off. It seems that all the other gear has some sort of damage boost except for ice. Now this might be because ice gets universal resistance and crit block. That would make sense. But after looking at the overall gear I think I'm going to continue working towards the level 66 crafting gear. I personally don't see an upside to the new gear.

The one thing that I really loved about this small "update" was the new axe.

(it seems there was a small glitch with the moon beam pic:)

I can't wait until Vanessa gets to level 70 so I can get that axe.

The crown shop also added new transformations. I personally don't spend my real money on a 60 minute transformation but when I was on the test realm I really liked the dark fairy transformation.

What's your opinion on the new gear? Do you see an upside to the ice gear or the gear in general that I missed? What about the transformations? Do you like the axe as much as I do?

See ya in the game!

It's almost been a year

Hello, has it almost been a year from my last post already?

Well I guess I can start with a quick update on a few of my wizards.

First off Vanessa has not reached level 70 yet but is working very hard in the wonderful world of Zafaria. I'm very happy that KI came out with a safari theme this time.

Next is Scarlet who is at level 48 now and is working on leveling up her new hydra pet to adult.

The rest of my wizards are in various worlds in the spiral right now all trying to get some crafting quests done.

Now for the reason why I'm posting again.

First, I missed posting.

Second, I missed posting.

There's not much to talk about at the moment but I am going to try to post more often and about all the awesome updates that KI is coming out with lately.

And today I will leave you with a picture of Scarlet casting the Hydra spell with her new Hydra pet.
